3D SHAPES PAINTING

Today instead of drawing our shapes we painted them. This was the first time I'd ever worked on an easel and after I'd got used to working on a different angle I actually found it a lot easier than working horizontally, I felt like I had more control (and stopped smudging my work all the time). I found sketching the shapes a lot easier today (I'm not sure if a can credit the work we did yesterday or the easel for this) but mixing the colours for each face was still tricky. As the sun went up sometimes the contrast in the shadows changed which was a bit irritating but it was also really cool watching them and their shadows change through the day. Some of the colours weren't quite right (such as the dark purple on the pink gem and the strength of the darkest face on the orange dodecahedron). They're simple shapes but they've got this sort of intrinsic beauty working for them. I love sketching so although it was a challenge I really enjoyed this task. I will definitely miss working with colour so much in the next workshop rotation!
